Call for Executive Committee Members for the International Comic Arts Forum
Posted August 8 2025
The International Comic Arts Forum (ICAF) is now accepting applications for three positions on our Executive Committee, the planning team for the conference and other initiatives related to the forum. The committee welcomes applications from academic scholars (including graduate students, contingent faculty, and independent scholars), librarians, editors, and creative professionals. International scholars and scholars from underrepresented perspectives within comics studies are particularly encouraged to apply.
Bios for all current Executive Committee members can be found here.

Members of the ICAF Executive Committee work together to evaluate paper proposals and award applications, suggest guest speakers, propose host locations, and organize programming for the conference along with the additional duties that may come with a particular office. The committee is currently in need of a member who is willing to assist with our fundraising efforts and two others to serve as our Members-at-Large. We hope that anyone who is interested in advancing the mission of ICAF will apply. New members will be asked to commit to serving for at least two conferences, which is a 4-year commitment as our conference runs on a biannual schedule.
To apply, send your CV and a cover letter detailing your interest in ICAF, any relevant experience in conference planning and/or committee work, and how you can best contribute to the organization’s operations. Please indicate if you are willing to serve as a Member-at-Large, our Fundraising Coordinator, or either position. Applications should be sent to [email protected]. Please email if you have any questions.
The deadline for applications is September 1, 2025. New members will be selected by late September, and we’ll have our first meeting in early-mid October.
