ICAF Presenter Accessibility Guidelines
Please use this guide to make your presentation as accessible as possible to fellow conference goers.

Space and Room
- Always use the microphone when speaking.
- Speak clearly, at a regular volume.
- Make sure that your mouth is clearly visible, if maskless.
- If masked considered wearing a clear N95 mask.
- Chair should repeat the questions or comments of audience members.
- Have audience members use microphone when asking questions.
Slides and Visuals
- Provide 3-4 accessibility copies of the paper you plan to present.
- Use sans-serif font (Helvetica, Verdana, and Arial).
- One copy should be printed in larger text, 14 or 16 font.
- Print out at least 2 copies of your slides.
- Use headings to organize paper.
- Indicate where to return presentation materials.
- Slides should have minimal font size of 20.
- Use sans-serif font (Helvetica, Verdana, and Arial).
- Best color contrast is white font on a dark background, or black font on a light background.
- Describe any images or visuals.
- Example: comic panel of Storm creating rain and thunder
- Any videos should have captions.
- Do not show videos with burst of lights or flashing.
Space and Room
- Keep the aisles free of bags, coats, and other clutter for those using mobility devices.
- Make sure that Deaf and Hard of hearing people can see the speakers.
- If not using the overhead projector, turn off to limit distractions.
- Refrain from wearing heavily scented fragrances if possible.
- When appropriate, offer content warnings (ex: description of sexual assault, depiction of anti-Black violence).
